Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ10) is a vitamin-like nutrient found in every cell of the body. The human body produces CoQ10 and is used by the mitochondria in our cells to produce the energy needed for cell growth and maintenance. This nutrient also functions as an antioxidant, which protects the body from damage caused by harmful free radicals. There is also enough substantial evidence in research that shows that CoQ10 plays an important role in maintaining cardiovascular health, helping to protect LDL ("bad" cholesterol) from oxidation, which can be toxic to our cells.
